Privacy policy
Last updated 13 October 2026
Clewed Up is a sailing navigation theory trainer available on the web and, in future, as iPhone, iPad and desktop apps. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
The short version
Clewed Up does not ask you to create an account, does not collect your name or email address, and does not use advertising or analytics trackers. Your quiz answers stay on your own device.
Information we collect
When you use the trainer
Questions, lessons and results are handled entirely on your device. We do not receive your answers, scores or the topics you choose.
Offline storage
To work offline, the trainer stores its own files (pages, questions, illustrations and fonts) in your browser or app storage. This contains no personal information. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data or deleting the app.
Website hosting
The website is hosted by Wix.com. Like any web host, Wix may process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver the site securely. See the Wix privacy policy for details.
If you contact us
If you get in touch, we use the details you send only to reply to you, and keep them no longer than needed to deal with your enquiry.
Links to other sites
Knot lessons link to demonstration videos on YouTube from Solent Boat Training. Those videos open on YouTube, which has its own privacy policy. Nothing is sent to YouTube unless you follow a link.
Children
Clewed Up is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Because the trainer itself holds no personal information on our side, most requests can be met simply by clearing data on your own device. For anything else, see the Support page. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes to this policy
If we add features that change how data is handled, such as accounts or paid plans, we will update this page before they launch and change the date at the top.
